Can I work with Quill & Reed remotely?
Yes, and that is how every project runs. Manuscripts and files are exchanged securely, conversations happen by video or phone, and proofs and approvals are handled digitally. You never need to travel, and your location does not change what is available to you.

Writing in Oxford
Oxford is home to the Bodleian Libraries, one of the oldest library systems in Europe and a legal deposit library, and to Oxford University Press, the world’s largest university press.
The FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival runs each spring, and the University of Oxford’s Department for Continuing Education offers creative writing courses open to the public. Oxford Brookes University also teaches writing and publishing.
Academic publishing and trade publishing are different worlds. An academic monograph, a university press book and a book for general readers have different editors, formats and routes to market, and it helps to choose deliberately.
- From academic to general reader
- Trade non-fiction needs a narrative spine, fewer caveats and a clear promise to the reader. A developmental edit is often the most useful investment for authors used to academic writing.
- Citations, images and permissions
- Notes, references, quotations and images need consistent treatment and, sometimes, permission. Plan them before formatting to avoid expensive late changes.
- Not everyone here is an academic
- Oxford also has plenty of novelists, memoirists and first-time writers. The route should follow the book, not the city’s reputation.

What happens if I want to publish?
If your manuscript is ready, or nearly ready, the Publish packages cover cover design, formatting, ISBN guidance, set-up on Amazon KDP and IngramSpark in your name, and launch support. Editing and custom illustration are quoted separately, before anything is agreed.
Every package is a 12-month agreement with the monthly price and the total commitment shown up front. Prices are the same in Oxford as anywhere else in the UK.
Already published?
Can you help if my book is already published?
Yes. Quill & Reed also works with authors whose books are already live but need more visibility, stronger positioning, an author website, email-list infrastructure, marketing content, relaunch support or ongoing growth. You do not need to republish with us.

Yes. You keep your copyright and your royalties, and the publishing accounts are set up in your name. Quill & Reed charges for services and takes no standard royalty percentage.

Yes, if the manuscript is ready or close to it. The Publish packages cover cover design, formatting, set-up on Amazon KDP and IngramSpark in your name, and launch support. If the manuscript needs editing first, that is quoted separately before anything is agreed.
Do you build author websites?
Yes. Author websites are planned around your books and readers, and the domain stays yours. Published authors can take the standalone Author Website plan.
