How can Quill & Reed help authors in London?
London authors often write around demanding jobs and long commutes, and many already have deep professional knowledge. Support is shaped to the time you actually have, whether that is a novel written on the Tube or a book built from twenty years of expertise.
Support can cover early book development, manuscript guidance, editing, cover design, illustration, formatting, Amazon KDP and IngramSpark set-up, author websites, launch support and growth after publication. You choose what you need; nothing is bundled in by default.
Working remotely
Can I work with Quill & Reed remotely?
Yes, and that is how every project runs. Manuscripts and files are exchanged securely, conversations happen by video or phone, and proofs and approvals are handled digitally. You never need to travel, and your location does not change what is available to you.

Writing and publishing in London
London is where most of the UK’s large publishing houses and many literary agencies are based, and that can make publishing feel like a closed room you are standing outside. It is worth separating the city’s industry from your own route: traditional publishing is one option, and independent publishing done properly is another. Neither depends on where you live.
The city is unusually rich in research resources. The British Library at St Pancras holds a copy of almost every book published in the UK and offers free Reader Passes for research, which matters if you are writing history, biography or research-led non-fiction. The London Library, a subscription library founded in 1841, is used by many working writers who want a quiet desk and an open-shelf collection.
The London Book Fair, held each spring, is primarily a rights and trade event where publishers, agents and distributors do business. It can be useful for understanding how the industry works, but it is not a place to sell copies of your book to readers, and it should not be treated as a launch venue.
- Bookshops are plentiful, but shelf space is competitive
- London has hundreds of bookshops, from large chains to independents. Being orderable through IngramSpark means any of them can order your book; being stocked is a separate decision each shop makes. A short, polite approach with a finished copy, a clear audience and a local connection works better than a mass email.
- Your time is the real constraint
- Many London writers are not short of ideas but of hours. A realistic plan, with a weekly word target and a clear shape for the book, usually does more than another course.

What happens if I want to publish?
If your manuscript is ready, or nearly ready, the Publish packages cover cover design, formatting, ISBN guidance, set-up on Amazon KDP and IngramSpark in your name, and launch support. Editing and custom illustration are quoted separately, before anything is agreed.
Every package is a 12-month agreement with the monthly price and the total commitment shown up front. Prices are the same in London as anywhere else in the UK.
Already published?
Can you help if my book is already published?
Yes. Quill & Reed also works with authors whose books are already live but need more visibility, stronger positioning, an author website, email-list infrastructure, marketing content, relaunch support or ongoing growth. You do not need to republish with us.
The standalone Author Website plan is £99 a month for 12 months (£1,188 total), with the domain in your name.
Questions from authors in London
Do you work with authors outside central London?
Yes. Everything is run remotely, so it makes no difference whether you live in Zone 1, an outer borough or beyond the M25.
Do you have a London office?
No. Quill & Reed does not have an office in London. We work with London authors by video, phone and secure file exchange, the same way we work with authors elsewhere in the UK.
Can I work with Quill & Reed remotely?
Yes. Projects are run remotely: files and manuscripts are exchanged securely, conversations happen by video or phone, and proofs and approvals are handled digitally. You do not need to travel anywhere at any stage.
Do I keep my copyright and royalties?
Yes. You keep your copyright and your royalties, and the publishing accounts are set up in your name. Quill & Reed charges for services and takes no standard royalty percentage.
How much does publishing cost?
The Publish packages are £99, £199 or £299 a month on a 12-month agreement (£1,188, £2,388 or £3,588 in total). Prices are the same wherever you live. Editing and custom illustration are quoted separately.
Can you help if my book is already published?
Yes. The Author Website and Author Growth plans are for authors whose books are already live, wherever and however they published. You do not need to republish with Quill & Reed.
